On Monday night we took some soba and shumai to my parents' house so that Chad could try on the pants that my mom is hemming for him. It's a long process! Anyway, my mom had these really cute chopstick rests that are little cats. Love them!

Yum. Dinner was delicious, Thank you. XXXOOO
ReplyDeleteSo, wasn't it hard living in Japan? I mean, did you have to learn Tokyonese and stuff?
ReplyDeleteOK, so I don't want to sound like one of those idiot people, but in Japan, do they have special chopsticks for special dining situations? Like one set for salad and another for shrimp or something? Do they ever change out during a meal?
Hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteAbout the chopsticks, I'm not really sure because we didn't have that many fancy Japanese meals, but in general, I've never seen that happen. I've only ever had one pair of chopsticks at a meal.
Hi Adina,
ReplyDeleteI only know of two kinds of chop sticks. The kind we use for soba (long slippery noodles) have ridges at the end to help hold the noodles. If you are using disposable chopsticks than they are rough enough so you don't need ridges. There are some chopsticks that are completely smooth at the end.

Hi Adina,
ReplyDeleteIt's me again. If you maximize Andrew's picture you can see the ridges in the chopsticks.
Kathy
Ah, I see! That's pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI should have used "then" instead of "than", when talking about the disposable wooden chopsticks. Right?
